 The Public Works Department is dedicated to maintaining and improving the essential services that keep our town running smoothly.


Public Works Services

Our team oversees roads and streets, water and sewer systems, sanitation services, public facilities, and community infrastructure. We work year‑round to ensure safe transportation, reliable utilities, clean neighborhoods, and well‑maintained public spaces. Through careful planning, routine maintenance, and responsive service, Public Works supports the quality of life for all residents and helps our community grow stronger.

    Utilities Service and Rates

    Water Rates:  In the Town of Pickens
    ●    $19 water up to 2000 gallons/overage is $1.50 per gallon ●    $8 sewer ●    $23 garbage

    Water Rates: Outside of the Town of Pickens- HWY 17 and Vaughan, MS
    ● $25.50 water up to 2000 gallons/overage is $1.50 per gallon   Sewer  and Garbage services are unavailable.

    Property Owners:
    • A picture id and proof of ownership (copy of deed or tax receipt matching picture id) is required to open an account.
    • A water meter deposit of $100.00 plus a connection fee of $50.00 must be paid before any services will begin. The connection fee of $50.00 will be charged for any transfer of services.

    Non-Property Owners: 
    • A picture id and rental lease agreement (in name matching picture id) is required to open an account.
    • A water meter deposit of $250.00 plus a connection fee of $50.00 must be paid before any services will begin. The connection fee of $50.00 will be charged for any transfer of services.

    NOTE:  Late fee of $5.00 will be charged on bills paid after the 18th of every month. Services will be discontinued, water meters locked off or removed, and a cut off fee of $53.50 will be charged to all delinquent accounts not paid by the 25th of every month.  Citizen's plumbing responsibility starts at the meter for water.
